Cinco de Mayo & Red-Brown Journalism

Saludos and hope this finds you well.

We are down to the final week before Cinco de Mayo. The students in my Red-Brown
Journalism & Communications class at the University of Arizona have done
phenomenal work. Thanks to everyone who has supported them thus far.

The Red-Brown Journalism exhibit at the main library at the U of A is up until
May 7, our Newspaper -- El Coraje: La Nueva Generacion has been sent to the
printers... It was inspired by the original Coraje which ceased publication in
the 1960s. The highlight of the student-research and written and edited
publication is the role of women in the 1800s and 1900s. It also features a
connection to the codices -- arguably, the first journalism of the continent.
Now, the History of Red-Brown Journalism & Communications student symposium and
Cinco de Mayo Program remain. The highlight of the Tues May 5 evening
event will be the Tierra Birthmarks Play - put on by Tucson High School's Raza Studies Department. Please see attached flyer. If you print, you may need to resize.
(A major scholarship announcement will also be made at that time).

We are still short a little bit on funds. If you haven't donated already, it is
now possible to donate via credit card electronically. If you?ve already
received this or already donated, please forward it to someone who might want
to donate.

We are accepting gifts from $25 to $100 or more. Of course, if you donate, you
will receive a copy of the commemorative newspaper issue. The donation is
tax-deductible. Send electronically or by check via mail.


ELECTRONICALLY: To make your contribution with a credit card (Visa,
Mastercard, American Express, Discover), please follow these
directions:

1) Click on this link

This will take you to the SBS, UA Foundation Website. It is a secured site.

2) Click or fill-in your desired contribution amount.

3) Under "Designation", please click on the drop down arrow and select
"Other". Another "Other" window should appear.

4 ) Type "MASRC R. Rodriguez Events" in the window. This will tell
the UA Foundation where your contribution should be assigned. Very
important step.

5) Please fill out your billing and payment information. This is
needed to properly send you a receipt for tax purposes.Fill out the additional security code, and click on the
"Donate Now" button at the bottom of the page.

6) Lastly, for our accounting records and to make sure your
contribution reaches our Center, please email Veronica Peralta
at vperalta@email.arizona.edu with your name, address,
and amount given. No other information is needed.
